About the Thunderball Long Drive Championship

THUNDERBALL! was created by Colin McDougall, a spirited entrepreneur who lives in Las Vegas, NV.  An accomplished collegiate golfer, Colin was one of the longer hitters on his team at the University of Tampa.

Though he worked in the golf industry for years it wasn’t until after he left the industry that he actually attended his first Long-Drive event held in Montreal.  It was an incredible display of power, generated using completely legal equipment that left the crowd awestruck – including Colin.

Understanding how important distance is in the purchasing mind of a golf consumer it seemed like an odd disconnect to Colin that these Long-Drive specialists didn’t carry more weight in the industry and Colin thought that perhaps the missing element was a simple one – frequent, compelling TV exposure.

Fast-forward to his second year of the MBA program at the Richard Ivey School of Business at University of Western Ontario, Colin was able to develop a business plan for his vision of Long-Drive – now called THUNDERBALL! and have some of the brightest minds in the country assess, evaluate and critique his work.

To a man, everyone felt strongly that there was enormous potential for the sport – so much so that Colin packed up his family and relocated to Las Vegas to live out his plan and dreams of seeing Long-Drive explode in popularity.

Well, it’s 2010 and the programs & formula are finally in place!
